Add a VoiceTel SIP trunk to 3CX.
3CX has a SIP trunk wizard with templates for many providers. VoiceTel doesn't ship as a named template; use the Generic SIP Trunk template and fill in the fields below.
1. Create the trunk
- 3CX Management Console → SIP Trunks → Add SIP Trunk.
- In the country selector, pick Generic → Generic SIP Trunk.
- Enter a Main Trunk No. — typically your primary VoiceTel-assigned DID (in E.164, e.g.
+12125551234). - Click OK to open the trunk-edit form.
2. General tab
- Enter name for Trunk: VoiceTel
- Registrar / Server / Gateway Hostname or IP: the SIP server host shown in your customer portal
- Outbound Proxy: same as Registrar
- Number of SIM Calls: your provisioned concurrent-call cap (or unlimited if you have an unmetered trunk)
- Type of Authentication:
- Digest: select Register/Account based
- IP auth: select IP based and add the 3CX server's public IP to your VoiceTel ACL
- Authentication ID: SIP username from VoiceTel onboarding
- Authentication Password: SIP password from onboarding
- 3 Way Calling Method: Re-Invite (default)
3. Options tab
- Disallow video calls: ticked (unless onboarding confirmed video support)
- Send all calls to default voicemail: unticked
- Require registration for incoming calls: ticked (Digest) or unticked (IP auth)
- Re-Invite Mode: Pass-through (default)
- SIP Reinvite handling: Default
4. Inbound parameters tab
- Source identification: match by Caller ID if your VoiceTel ACL covers multiple source IPs; otherwise leave default
- Map your VoiceTel-assigned DIDs to extensions / IVRs / queues here.
5. Outbound rules
- Outbound Rules → Add.
- Rule Name: Outbound via VoiceTel
- Apply this rule to these calls: by length / by prefix per your dialing plan
- Make outbound calls on: the VoiceTel trunk
- Strip Digits: 0 (unless your dialing plan requires)
- Prepend: as needed (e.g.
+1if your extensions dial 10-digit and VoiceTel expects E.164) - Save.
Verify
3CX Management Console → SIP Trunks. The trunk should show Registered within a minute. Check Activity → SIP Trunk for an OPTIONS ping every 30 seconds with 200 OK responses.
