Configure Cisco MPP phones for VoiceTel.
Cisco IP Phones 7800/8800 series running Multi-Platform (MPP) firmware operate as standard SIP endpoints — different from Cisco UCM-tied phones. Provision via the web UI or via Cisco's redirection service for fleets.
Convert from Enterprise firmware (if needed)
Phones bought through a Cisco UCM-tied channel ship with Enterprise firmware that doesn't accept third-party SIP. Convert to MPP firmware first:
- Download the MPP firmware image from Cisco's downloads area for your model.
- Upgrade via Admin Login → Voice → Provisioning → Firmware Upgrade Rule.
- The phone reboots into MPP mode after the upgrade.
Web UI configuration
- Press Settings → Status → Network → IPv4 to find the IP.
- Open
