Support / Voice / Phone / Poly Edge

Configure Poly Edge for VoiceTel.

Poly's Edge B and Edge E series replaced the VVX line for new deployments. They run Poly OS (formerly UC Software 7.x), which uses a redesigned web UI compared to VVX. The fields are largely the same; the menu paths differ.

If you have a VVX, see the older guide

VVX 250/350/450/601 phones use UC Software 6.x with the legacy Settings → Lines menu structure documented separately at Poly / Polycom (VVX).

Web UI configuration

  1. Find the IP: Settings → Status → Network.
  2. Open https://<phone-ip>. Sign in (default password printed on the device's bottom label or the box; change immediately).
  3. Click Lines in the top navigation.
  4. Select Line 1.
  5. Identity section:
    • Display Name: caller's name
    • Address: sip:<sip-username>@<sip-host-from-portal>
    • Authentication User ID: SIP username from VoiceTel onboarding
    • Authentication Password: SIP password
    • Label: short label shown on the line key
  6. Server section:
    • Address: the SIP server host shown in your customer portal
    • Port: 5060
    • Transport: UDP only
    • Expires: 360
    • Register: Enabled
  7. Click Save.
  8. Open SIP → Local Settings:
    • NAT Keep-Alive Interval: 30
    • Keep-Alive Method: rport
  9. Save. The line registers within a few seconds.

Codec preference

Open Audio → Codec Profiles → Audio Codec Priority. Enable PCMU, PCMA, and G.729 in that order.

Auto-provisioning

Poly ZTP works for Edge phones the same way as VVX. Register your MAC ranges at https://ztp.poly.com and point ZTP at your VoiceTel provisioning URL. Edge phones boot, contact ZTP, redirect, fetch their config, register.

Self-hosted provisioning: Edge phones look for 000000000000.cfg + per-MAC <mac>.cfg via TFTP/HTTP/HTTPS — same shape as VVX, but the config schema has new keys for Poly OS features. Contact VoiceTel engineering for an Edge-specific template.
