Support / Voice / Softphone / Bria
Configure Bria for VoiceTel.
CounterPath Bria (Solo, Teams, Enterprise) accepts standard SIP account credentials. Configuration is identical across desktop and mobile editions.
Steps (Bria 5 / Bria Solo desktop)
- Open Softphone → Account Settings → SIP Accounts (Windows) or Bria → Preferences → Accounts (macOS).
- Click Add and select SIP.
- Account tab:
- Account name: VoiceTel
- Protocol: SIP
- User ID: SIP username from VoiceTel onboarding
- Domain: SIP server host (shown in the customer portal)
- Password: SIP password from onboarding
- Display name: the caller's name
- Authorization name: same as User ID
- Topology tab:
- Firewall traversal method: Use Local IP address (or Auto-detect)
- Leave STUN / TURN disabled unless engineering directed otherwise
- Transport tab:
- Signaling transport: UDP
- SIP listening port: Auto
- Voicemail tab: leave default unless onboarding gave a specific voicemail URI.
- Click OK; the account should show Registered within a few seconds.
Bria mobile (iOS / Android)
The mobile UI is similar but in a single Account screen:
- Open Settings → Accounts → Add → SIP.
- Enter the same fields: User ID, Domain, Password, Authorization name, Display name.
- Under Advanced: set Transport to UDP and Signal Encryption to None.
- Save. The account registers on cellular and Wi-Fi.
Codec preferences
Open Audio Codecs (desktop: Preferences → Audio Codecs; mobile: Settings → Account → Codecs). Enable PCMU, PCMA, and G.729; move PCMU to the top.
