Configure MicroSIP for VoiceTel.

MicroSIP is a free, lightweight Windows-only softphone built on PJSIP. Configuration is straightforward — one Account dialog, no nested menus.

Steps

  1. Open MicroSIP → click the down-arrow next to the account selector → Add Account.
  2. Fill in the Account dialog:
    • Account Name: VoiceTel
    • SIP Server: SIP server host (shown in the customer portal)
    • SIP Proxy: leave blank (uses SIP Server)
    • Username: SIP username from VoiceTel onboarding
    • Domain: same as SIP Server
    • Login: same as Username (auth user)
    • Password: SIP password from onboarding
    • Display Name: caller's name
    • Voicemail Number: blank unless onboarding gave one
    • Transport: UDP
    • Public Address: Auto (or leave blank)
    • Register on Startup: ticked
    • Allow Rewrite Contact Header: ticked
    • Allow Via Rewrite: ticked
    • Encryption: None (or SRTP if onboarding required encrypted media)
  3. Click Save. The status bar at the bottom of the main window should change to Online.

Codec preferences

Open Tools → Account → Codecs. Enable PCMU, PCMA, and G.729.

Auto-answer / hotline mode

MicroSIP supports auto-answer and hotline modes useful for kiosk-style deployments. Configure under Account → Advanced → Auto-Answer code if needed.
