Support / Voice / Softphone / MicroSIP
Configure MicroSIP for VoiceTel.
MicroSIP is a free, lightweight Windows-only softphone built on PJSIP. Configuration is straightforward — one Account dialog, no nested menus.
Steps
- Open MicroSIP → click the down-arrow next to the account selector → Add Account.
- Fill in the Account dialog:
- Account Name: VoiceTel
- SIP Server: SIP server host (shown in the customer portal)
- SIP Proxy: leave blank (uses SIP Server)
- Username: SIP username from VoiceTel onboarding
- Domain: same as SIP Server
- Login: same as Username (auth user)
- Password: SIP password from onboarding
- Display Name: caller's name
- Voicemail Number: blank unless onboarding gave one
- Transport: UDP
- Public Address: Auto (or leave blank)
- Register on Startup: ticked
- Allow Rewrite Contact Header: ticked
- Allow Via Rewrite: ticked
- Encryption: None (or SRTP if onboarding required encrypted media)
- Click Save. The status bar at the bottom of the main window should change to Online.
Codec preferences
Open Tools → Account → Codecs. Enable PCMU, PCMA, and G.729.
Auto-answer / hotline mode
MicroSIP supports auto-answer and hotline modes useful for kiosk-style deployments. Configure under Account → Advanced → Auto-Answer code if needed.
